Girl Space

Advisors: Mariangela Rodriguez and Juliana Tamayo.

Girl Space is a new program at CNG that is aimed at providing girls in grades 9-12 with a safe space to discuss issues that are relevant to young women today. It is also a place where students further develop self-esteem, become empowered and take on advocacy roles for girls in the school and community. Students in this group meet on a weekly basis with their teacher mentors and professionals who have the expertise to introduce the girls to varying facets of the female identity.

The purpose of this program is to:

•             Build self-esteem and self-efficacy
•             Discuss pertinent issues facing female high school students
•             Provide emotional and social support to female students
•             Provide a forum for female students to discuss issues in a safe environment
•             Help build strengths among female students
•             Help build respectful bonds among female students
•             Advocate for girls in the school and community.
