MS Student-Led Conferences Moved to April 24

Student-Led Conferences are coming to Middle School on April 24. There will be no classes for students on that day; instead, all students will be sharing portfolios of their with examples and reflections of their learning with parents.
Student Attendance is Required

April 10 is considered an official day of school for students. A student who does not attend with his or her parents will be marked as absent and expected to complete a make-up portfolio presentation. If you absolutely cannot attend, your child should complete a Pre-Arranged Absence form and follow the regular absence notification procedures and email the office at ms_dismissal@cng.edu in order to have the absence marked excused.
Sign-Up Now for Your Preferred Time

On April 10, there will be three time blocks during the day for students to come and present their portfolios: 7:15-8:009:15-10:00, and 11:15-12:00. Spaces are limited for each time block and the schedule will be filled in the order in which emails are received, so sign-up early to get your preferred time. Sign-up now by sending an email to Michelle Vargas (dmvargas@cng.edu) with your preferred time slot.
What to Expect During Portfolio Presentations

Your child has prepared a full portfolio of his or her learning and has practiced a presentation for you. Plan to arrive at your child's Advisory classroom at the scheduled time for a 30-40 minute presentation from him or her with work samples and reflections on learning. We will have some suggested conversation starters for you, but come prepared to ask your child questions about his or her learning; remember, the focus is on the learning, not the grade.
What to Expect During Teacher Visits

Teachers will be available in the HS Gymnasium between portfolio presentations for any parents who would like to visit with questions or just to check-in: 8:15-9:0010:15-11:00, and 12:15-1:00. As there are many parents to see during a short time, please limit your visits with teachers to 1-2 minutes each. If you have questions or issues which will require more time, you may email your child's teacher to schedule a time to talk at greater length.

We are all extremely proud of the growth your children have shown this year; they are excited to share their learning with you on April 10. If you have any questions or need any help related to Student-Led Conferences, please contact the Michelle Vargas in the Middle School Office at dmvargas@cng.edu or 212-3511 ext. 150 and we will be happy to help you.
