AP Drawing and Painting
The courses in AP visual arts offer college level art instruction designed for serious art students who are interested in the practical experience of art. Students are expected to address different issues in art and actively engage in the production their original artwork. Each student is required to submit a portfolio for evaluation from the College Board at the end of the school year.
The Drawing and Painting portfolio intends to address a wide range of approaches and media. Line quality, light and shade, composition, surface manipulation, illusion of depth and mark-making are drawing issues that can be addressed through a variety of means which could include painting, printmaking, mixed media, abstract or observational and inventive works.
