Classroom Without Walls

CNG is committed to providing experiential learning opportunities that give students context to their lives, helping them not only to navigate the world but also empowering them to have a positive impact on it through leadership and service. Classroom Without Walls (CWW) is CNG's K4-12 outdoor experiential learning program intended to give students those opportunities.

The program challenges students to apply what they have been studying in their classroom curriculum and link this to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in the form of project-based learning. During their experience, students visit different areas in Colombia to learn from different cultures and situations as well as to experience the wide variety of landscapes Colombia has to offer.

The Importance of Classroom Without Walls

CWW programs challenge students physically, emotionally, and intellectually through different activities, helping them become independent and self-confident. They also create a space for students to connect with their teachers, peers, and the different communities they visit, thus creating a sense of caring, social responsibility, environmental awareness, teamwork, and respect for diversity.

Of course, throughout the experience, students will also be encouraged to have huge amounts of fun with their peers. Visiting different areas in Colombia allows students to understand the county’s culture and helps prepare them as the leaders of tomorrow.

Health and Safety

The CWW office, along with the teachers and the expertise of Outdoor Education Companies (OEC), work throughout the year to organize different programs, making sure they comply with the highest standards of safety and security. In advance of each trip, the school and the outdoor education companies visit locations and test the equipment, make sure the facilities are up to standard, and evaluate potential risks. Highlighting our commitment to safety, we have a 1/10 teacher to student ratio and a 1/12 OEC to student ratio during all of our CWW excursions.  All of our staff are First Aid trained, and we travel with a medical doctor for every 50 students that participate.

At CNG we envision CWW as part of our formal curriculum, therefore all CNG students are encouraged to participate.
